Robert Robinson possesses talent described as
“volcanic” and a voice “too big for radio.”
Rooted deeply in the gospel
genre, Robert points to greats like Mahalia Jackson,
Tramaine Hawkins and Vanessa Bell Armstrong (with
whom he once performed) as inspiration. But he’s
created a genre that fits his personality and voice,
combining gospel and soul as his go-to sound.
In 2005 Robert led the way toward
his own success, with tenor voice and touring
schedule in tow. Acting as his own creative director
and promoter, he was named one of the “Ten Best
Holiday Shows” in 2007 by
Metro Magazine.
In January 2010, Robert launched
his newest “Signature” CD and has been collecting
superb reviews from all over, including from the
Minneapolis
Star Tribune, which proclaimed him a “soaring
presence.”
Although gospel may be woven throughout Robert’s
musical stylings, audiences don’t have to embrace
gospel to embrace Robert.
