Drawing on 100 years of Irish traditional musical
heritage, McPEAKE creates a uniquely revived sound
that is truly an experience for the ears and soul.
For
generations of folk music enthusiasts, the name of
the McPEAKE Family from Belfast, Ireland, has stood
for one of the most distinctive sounds in Irish
music. Francis McPeake IV, the fourth generation of
this world-famous musical dynasty and one of the few
authentic uilleann pipers in the world today, formed
McPEAKE in 2003.Joining Francis (uilleann pipes/low whistles)
are
Mairead Forde
(fiddle/vocals),Sean O'Kane (keys/accordion/vocals), Peter Wallace
(vocals/percussion) and Sean Earnest (guitar).
McPEAKE fuses original Celtic compositions with
contemporary rhythms and styles blending influences
from Irish traditional, folk, acoustic and country
genres.The
refreshing, unique sound of McPeake organically
grows from its members, who have performed with many
international artists including Van Morrison, Mary
Black, Ronan Keating, The McPeake Family, Riverdance,
John Hurt, Dennis Hopper, The Chieftains and more.
