“...startling intensity!"

"...powerful, keen-edged sound”

The Afiara String Quartet takes its name from the Spanish word fiar, meaning "to trust." This amazing viola, cello & two violin quartet gives every piece they play a unique blend of energy, style and pizzazz.

This all-Canadian group was named The Juilliard School’s new graduate resident string quartet and won the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in New York, following with a top prize at the Munich ARD International Music Competition.

The Afiara String Quartet’s commitment to education combines urban elements by coupling together Haydn and hip-hop, complete with a rapping cellist, often to the glee of students and enthusiastic amusement of adults.
